Introducing: Stardust to Storytellers

A cosmic background featuring stars and galaxies with the text 'Introducing! Stardust to Storytellers' and a tagline 'Rabbit Hole Learning. Secular. Inclusive. Free. Homeschooling.'

Welcome to my new curriculum: Stardust to Storytellers. This is a secular, science-rooted curriculum series created for curious learners, and the grown-ups who learn alongside them.

Beginning this week, I’ll be posting a new lesson every week (or so), starting with the birth of the universe and traveling through deep time toward early human societies. This is a project close to my heart and born from a love of big questions, storytelling and hands-on learning.

The Heart of the Curriculum: Science

Each lesson starts with a core science focus on two different levels and real-world wonder. Lessons are written for homeschoolers, co-ops, and curious families, with flexible pacing and plenty of room to go deeper.

Fall Topics

Week 1: The Big Bang
Week 2: The Formation of Stars and Elements
Week 3: Our Galaxy and Solar System
Week 4: Gravity
Week 5: Early Earth and Moon
Week 6: The Rock Cycle
Week 7: Plate Tectonics
Week 8: Air and Water
Week 9: Defining Life
Week 10: The First Life on Earth
Week 11: Oxygen Comes to Earth
Week 12: Eukaryotes
Week 13: Multicellular Life Begins
Week 14: The Cambrian Explosion
Week 15: The Ordovician and Silurian Seas

ELA Extensions: Myth, Meaning, and Mechanics

All lessons include ELA extensions for families who want a fully integrated experience. These include:

  • World mythology and storytelling traditions tied to the week’s scientific theme
  • The Writing Revolution-inspired writing activities
  • Developmentally appropriate grammar and writing skills, embedded in meaningful contexts

Exploration, Play, and Rabbit Holes

The best learning happens when kids are free to explore. So I’ve built in room for that, too. Many weeks will include:

  • Sensory bin and other play based prompts for younger learners
  • Multi-sensory ideas including book lists, videos, and podcasts.
  • Hands-on project ideas using simple materials
  • Rabbit hole invitations (topics to deep dive into)

This isn’t just about checking boxes. It’s about nurturing a love of learning, across subjects and senses.

Who It’s For

Stardust to Storytellers is ideal for:

  • Secular homeschool families with kids ages 4-12
  • Kids who ask big questions and want real answers
  • Parents who like flexibility, creativity, and critical thinking

Stardust to Storytellers is NOT ideal for:

  • Families that need solely independent work
  • Those looking for a faith based program
  • Caregivers who need a more firm spelled out plan

What’s Next?

The first lesson drops soon! Subscribe or follow along so you don’t miss it.

Whether you use this curriculum week by week, save it for a future year, or just grab bits and pieces for inspiration—I hope it brings your family as much joy and connection as it’s brought mine while writing it.
